SLIPPERY DICK is a fish which lives in the atlantic ocean and is absolutely BEST FISH IN THE WORLD!!! Its scientific name is Halichoeres bivittatus, which is Latin and means something like "with two stripes," but who cares when the English name is this good lol!!!
This fish is the STAR OF THE CARIBBEAN, the Gulf of Mexico, and the entire Western Atlantic, and it is EXTRA

COOL because:

- WHY IS IT CALLED "SLIPPERY"??? — Because it's COVERED IN THICK SLIME, and when you try to grab it, it slips through your fingers like... well, it's just slippery. Fishermen in the Bahamas have a total nightmare about it, hahaha!
- GENDER CHANGE!!! — All slippery dicks are born as FEMALES or sexually undifferentiated juveniles. Then, when there aren’t enough males in the population, some individuals LITERALLY TURN INTO MALES!!! It’s like if you suddenly became someone else... but a fish. WTF, evolution???
- SLEEPING IN THE SAND!!! — At night, it LITERALLY burrows into the seabed!!! Why??? So that a predator won't eat it. Genius, right??? Try it yourself if you're a fish.
- FLYING LIKE A HUMMINGBIRD — It swims using its pectoral fins, which makes it look like it’s flying underwater. The technical term is “labriform swimming,” but in layman’s terms, I’d say it’s SUPER COOL.
- IT HAS STRONG TEETH — It can crack open mussels, crabs, sea urchins, and just about anything. A jaw from hell. Or rather, from the cliffs.
- IT'S EDIBLE!!! — People eat it in the Bahamas and Florida!!! The meat is white and tender, but because of the slime, preparing it is pretty unpleasant lol. Respect to anyone who's eaten it.
- LATIN NAME = DESCRIPTION — "bivittatus" means "with two stripes" in Latin. Creative naming 10/10 sarcasm.
- NOT ENDANGERED!!! — The IUCN lists it as "Least Concern" = not endangered. Good news everyone, as Professor Farnsworth says!!!
- CLEANS OTHER FISH — Sometimes it removes parasites from other fish!!! It’s like an underwater salon, and the slippery dick is a citizen beauty artist.
- THREE COLOR PHASES — Like puberty, but three times over and with more colors. Juvenile (striped), female (pinkish-brown), male (green+blue+orange) = three completely different appearances!!!
